For more than 125 years, Family and Children’s Services (FACS) Niagara has provided support to help children, youth, and families be at their best. In updating the agency’s strategic plan, FACS reaffirmed its commitment to helping the community thrive.

The five-year plan (2024 – 29) is the product of consultations with members of the FACS team, foster parents, volunteers, community partners, and residents of Niagara.

Amidst the rising cost of living following a global pandemic, there has been a greater need than ever to assist people with meeting their basic needs before they can get to a place where they thrive. These basic needs include addressing food and housing insecurity, economic circumstances, as well as providing support for people’s mental health and wellbeing.

“All these factors were considered as we developed our agency’s new five-year strategic plan,” says David Willer, President of the FACS Niagara Board of Directors. “The plan outlines how we will approach our important work in the community.”

The agency’s core values now recognize what FACS has always been: an agency that is child-centred and that is committed to meeting the needs of the young people it serves. “The plan also prioritizes our emphasis on providing early intervention supports, working to keep children safe, and continuing the path towards greater equity and inclusion,” says Anna Bozza, CEO of FACS Niagara.

“The strategic plan recognizes the need for collaboration, both amongst our team and with our partners who also provide needed services in the community,” says Brett Sweeney, Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “We look forward to our continued work together to support a future where all children are safe and have the support they need to succeed.”
