July 13, 2022 – The inaugural Mountainview LemonAID Day had some sweet results for children in Niagara. The kids helping kids event raised more than $85,000 to provide kids in Niagara with the opportunity to make wonderful childhood memories through summer camp.

Mountainview LemonAID Day took place on Sunday, June 12 across Niagara, with many teams hosting their stands throughout the weekend. The teams ranged from families and kids to community stands hosted by municipalities and organizations.

“We could not have asked for a better outcome of the first annual Mountainview LemonAID Day,” says Mark Basciano, President of Mountainview Building Group. “The funds raised through this initiative will support deserving kids in Niagara, and we want the community to know how big of an impact they have made.”

“Mountainview LemonAID Day came from a small idea a few years ago, and now to see it become a region-wide event is truly inspiring,” says Caroline Polgrabia, President of the FACS Niagara Foundation Board. “This event gave young people an opportunity to display their leadership, and their creativity and enthusiasm made for a memorable day.”

Through the generosity of the community, FACS Niagara expects to provide approximately 400 children with camp experiences this summer. Camp experiences include children attending day camps in Niagara, overnight camps outside the region, or receiving special packages to have a camp experience at home, depending on their preference.

“We are grateful to the community for this outstanding show of support,” said Anna Bozza, Executive Director of FACS Niagara. “After two long pandemic years, children and youth in Niagara deserve the opportunity to get back to the business of childhood, which is learning, exploring and having fun with their friends.”

Title sponsor, Mountainview Building Group, and sponsors of Mountainview LemonAID Day, gathered at the Mountainview Offices in Thorold on Wednesday as the total raised from the June 12 event was announced. The event also celebrated the Colamartini family, the top fundraising team of the event. They raised $3,557, the equivalent of sending 14 kids to one weeklong summer day camp in Niagara.

Planning for the 2023 Mountainview LemonAID Day is underway as the FACS Niagara Foundation looks to build on the success of this year’s event.
